How to prepare for a job interview at a Balasanka showroom

What happens after you apply for a job at our showrooms, what to bring to the interview, and the simple things that make a good first impression.

Every year we hire hundreds of people across our two-wheeler, jewellery and watch showrooms: sales staff, service technicians, cashiers, accountants and more. Many of them are starting their first job. If that's you, this guide explains what to expect.

How it works

  1. Apply online. Go to our careers page, choose the showroom and job, and fill in the form. It takes about five minutes and is in English and Tamil. You must be 18 or older.
  2. We call you. Our HR team calls you to talk about the job and fix a time for the interview.
  3. Interview at the showroom. Every candidate is interviewed, including people who walk into a showroom to ask about work.
  4. Offer. If you are selected, we send an offer and ask for your documents before you join.

What to bring

  • Your Aadhaar card and a copy.
  • Certificates for your highest education and any courses, with copies.
  • Experience or relieving letters from earlier jobs, if you have worked before.
  • A pen, and your phone with enough charge in case we need to share details.

If you are unsure about anything, ask on the call. We would much rather you ask than worry.

Making a good impression

  • Arrive ten minutes early. If you are going to be late, call and tell us.
  • Dress neatly. Clean, ironed, simple clothes are perfect. You don't need anything expensive.
  • Know the showroom. Visit it or look it up on our showrooms page beforehand, and know which brands it sells.
  • Speak simply and honestly. It's fine to answer in Tamil. If you don't know something, say so.
  • Show you like helping people. In a showroom, how you treat a customer matters as much as what you know about the product. Think of a time you helped someone and be ready to talk about it.

Questions you may be asked

  • Tell us about yourself and your family.
  • Why do you want to work in this showroom?
  • What did you do in your last job, or in college?
  • How would you handle a customer who is angry or confused?
  • Are you able to work on weekends and during festival season? Showrooms are busiest then.

Questions you can ask us

  • What does a normal working day look like?
  • What training will I get?
  • How do people grow in this role?

Asking a good question shows you are serious about the job.
